One of the best things about working at a summer camp is that you can travel either on your days off, and after your camp contract ends. Ask camp friends if they are planning to travel too. Or maybe a local staff has some room at their cottage? Don’t be afraid to ask!
Can I travel after camp?
Yes, but you will need to change your status to a visitor.
Why? Your status is Canada when you enter will be based off your "expiry date/leave by date" on your work permit. If this expires before your return flight then you will no longer have legal status to remain in Canada. You can find out more on 'Extending Your Stay as a Visitor'
My work permit expires before my return flight home, what do I need to do?
If your work permit "expiry date/leave by date" is before your return flight home, you must apply to change your status to a visitor otherwise you will no longer have legal status in Canada and you must leave the country.

How many days can I stay in Canada after I finish?
You must change your status to a visitor if you plan to stay past the "expiry date/leave by date" on your work permit. You can stay up to 6 months after you change your status to a visitor.
Do I have to pay for travel after camp?
Yes. If you choose to travel, you'll have to pay for accommodation, transport and all that Canadian fast food goodness. We’re always happy to help suggest accommodation and great places to visit. If you go to camp with Camp Canada you'll also be elibigle for our exclusive after camp travel perks.
Can I go to the US when I travel?
Yes. However, if you leave Canada to visit the US, you must have a approved ESTA to enter the US.
Important: There are companies that offer services based around ESTA. Do not use any 3rd party company. Use the official Government websites only.
