What do I do now that I've been confirmed?
Congratulations!
When a director confirms you in the portal, this is their way of expressing intent to hire you for the summer. There is nothing for you to do until your application is moved to 'Get Prepared', and you'll get an email when it is moved forward.
Participants will be moved to 'Get Prepared' when all of the details of their camp placement have been 100% confirmed. These details include
- What airport you should fly into
- What date you should fly to Canada
- What date you will travel to camp
- How many days you will spend in the city before travelling to camp
- What qualification course you will participate in (if any)
- How you will get from the host city to the camp
....and much more!
As you can see, there are several intricacies involved in moving your application to 'Get Prepared'. Because it is a detail-oriented process, it often takes some time, and coordination between you, the Camp Canada team, and your camp.
We understand that once your placement has been confirmed, you're eager to start planning and booking flights. We're eager too! However, we also want to ensure that your trip is seamless, and without any costly travel changes.
Please do not book flights or make any travel arrangements before your application is moved forward to 'Get Prepared'.
Once you are 'Get Prepared', you will have 2 weeks to book your flights and upload your itinerary, otherwise, your placement is at risk.
How do I make sure I'm organised?
Keep in touch with your camp. They may need you to fill out some documents or sign a contract as part of their confirmation process.
You can also join our Camp Canada Community on Facebook! You can connect with people who are also going to your camp or have already been there in previous summers.
Make sure you have applied for and uploaded any outstanding documents.
Do I need to sign my contract with the camp right away?
Every camp is different and some will have different timelines and expectations with signing and returning the camp contract. Camp Canada does encourage you to sign your camp contract to keep your placement moving.
If you have any questions about your camp contract or are hesitant to sign, please reach out to your camp director, they will be able to answer any contract-specific questions that you may have and let you know when the deadline to sign is.
Your camp contract will need to be signed before you start your placement.
When will I be moved to 'Get Prepared'?
There is no set timeline on how long it will take to move your application from 'Confirmed' to 'Get Prepared'. Sometimes it can be done in a few days, and sometimes it can take 1 to 2 months depending on the logistical complexities of your placement.
