Your showcase is the best way to bring your application to life! It’s your chance to demonstrate your skills, experience, and personality to camp directors. Here’s everything you need to know to create an authentic, engaging showcase.

What is a showcase and why is it important?

  • A showcase introduces you to camp directors and highlights your skills, experience, and personality.

  • You can express yourself creatively through video, art, photos, slides, or any format that shows your strengths.

  • Participants with creative skills (Arts & Crafts, Performing Arts, Photography) are strongly encouraged to create a showcase — not having one may impact placement opportunities.

  • Note: Your showcase is separate from the introduction video in your Camp Canada portal.

What are some examples of a great showcase?
  • Skill Showcase Video: Highlight your abilities in action.
  • ‘Day in the Life’ Video: Show your hobbies, interests, and personality on a typical day.
  • Photo Portfolio: Present your work in a slideshow, digital album, or online portfolio.
  • Introduction Video: Share your name, where you’re from, your skills, and experience while letting your personality shine.
  • Slides: Create a visually engaging presentation of your skills and experience.
  • Creative Writing Piece: Showcase your creativity through written work.
How can I make my showcase stand out?
  • Show Enthusiasm: Be energetic and positive — excitement is contagious!
  • Engage Your Audience: Use eye contact, captions, or storytelling to connect and show confidence.
  • Be Approachable: Smile, be friendly, and maintain a welcoming tone in all content.
  • Choose the Right Setting: Film or photograph in a clean, well-lit environment.
  • Formatting: Ensure high-quality video or audio with clear visuals, good lighting, and stable recording.
What should I avoid when creating my showcase?
  • Inappropriate Language: Keep it professional.
  • Private/Expiring Links: Make sure your showcase link is accessible without expiration.
  • Lengthy Videos: Keep it concise — aim for 2–4 minutes.
  • Poor Body Language: Stay confident and engaged.
  • Personal Social Media Profiles: Only include professional or portfolio accounts.
What platforms are recommended for creating a showcase?
  • Video & Slides: YouTube, Loom, Vimeo, Google Slides
