An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. An eTA is electronically linked to a traveller’s passport. It is valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.  If you get a new passport, you need to get a new eTA.

You can find instructions on how to apply below:

Do I need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)?

Yes. An eTA is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to Canada by air. This is different from the work permit you will require to work at camp.

Whether you plan to come to Canada to visit or work, an eTA is required.

How long does the application process take?

Applying for an eTA is a simple online process that takes just a few minutes to complete. Most applicants get their eTA approval (via an email) within minutes. However, some requests can take several days to process if you're asked to submit supporting documents. It is best to get an eTA before you book your flight to Canada.

What is the cost of an eTA and how long does it last for?

It is valid for up to five years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.  If you get a new passport, you need to get a new eTA.

An eTA costs CAD $7.

If I am a Canadian or US Citizen, do I require an eTA?

No, you cannot apply for an eTA. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, need a valid Canadian passport. American-Canadians can travel with a valid Canadian or U.S. passport.

What if I type the wrong passport number on my application?

You will need to re-apply and pay for a new eTA.

Entering incorrect information could lead to a delay or even a refusal of your eTA
application, and/or prevent you from boarding your flight.

I have not recieved a decision on my eTA application within 72 hours.

If you have not received a decision on your eTA application within 72 hours, please contact our team at workpermits@campcanada.ca.

My eTA application was refused, what should I do?

If you receive an email with a decision stating your eTA application has been refused, please contact our team at workpermits@campcanada.ca.

How do I check my eTA status?

You can review your Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) Status on this website

When checking the status of your eTA, you will need the following:

  • Your eTA number (which begins with the letter J, can be found at the top of the email you received when your eTA was approved)
  • Your passport number
  • Country/territory of Issue
  • Issue date and expiry date of your passport

Note: The issue and expiry date relate solely to your passport and not a previous eTA.

I received a message that my eTA has been cancelled.

In the past, there were previously approved eTA's that were cancelled upon checking the status of their eTA.

We advise you to contact the IRCC immediately using this webform. Please provide them with the following information:

  • The full details of your eTA application
  • Exactly what your status is currently
  • The message you received

Alternatively, you can also choose to reapply using the instructions below, should you wish to do so.
