Important: This is only for participants in our Work & Travel program, if you wish to work as a camp counselor/activity specialist then see our articles in 'About Camp'.
We will provide you with guidance for your International Experience Canada (IEC) work permit application. Without it, you cannot work at summer camp in a support worker role.
An IEC is the International Experience Canada program, run by the Government of Canada. It allows young people, typically aged 18 to 30 or 35 depending on their country, to live and work in Canada for up to two years. IEC includes three main categories: Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op (Internship). Participants receive an open or employer-specific work permit, depending on the stream. For our Work & Travel Program, you will require the Working Holiday category. The program is based on reciprocal agreements between Canada and partner countries, allowing young adults to gain international work experience while travelling Canada.
