Camp is a wonderful and exciting place to work, but can also have an impact on your sense of wellbeing too. Building self-care into your routine at camp can greatly improve resilience and prevent burnout.

 

Establish a healthy mind at camp.

There are 7 activities necessary for optimum mental health:

  • Downtime
  • Play time
  • Sleep time
  • Time in
  • Focus time
  • Physical time
  • Connecting time 
Ways to deal with anxiety.
  • Write them down
  • Set aside 'worry time'
  • Don't dwell during the day
  • Challenge your thoughts
  • Make a plan and carry it out
  • Accept the worries you cannot control, and move on
  • Focus on the present
  • Spend time in nature
  • Move your body
  • Connect with people and talk about how you feel
  • Get quality sleep and rest
  • Try to eat a healthier diet
