Direct Placement Program - Fees & Pricing

2 min. readlast update: 04.04.2024

The fees for the Camp Canada Direct Placement program are paid directly by your camp. However, there may be other fees that you will be responsible for paying to the Government of Canada and to Camp Canada throughout the work permit process, as detailed below:

Work Permit Fee ($155 CAD)

Typically, work permits carry a fee of $155 CAD, which is paid directly to the Government of Canada at the time of your work permit processing upon arrival in Canada.

There are some cases in which a fee exemption applies. If your final documents list includes a fee exemption document, then you are considered fee-exempt. If the Immigration Officer requests this fee, be sure to draw their attention to these documents. However, it is within the discretion of the officer to determine whether this fee should be charged.

If you do not have fee exemption documents, then your case is not considered fee-exempt and the $155 CAD fee will apply. This is payable in various methods (cash, credit card, etc).

Biometrics Fee ($85 CAD)

Non-US Citizens will be asked to pay for and provide biometrics (fingerprints & eye scan) upon arrival into Canada at the time of your work permit processing. There is nothing you need to organize in advance for this.

Biometrics are valid for 10 years. If you have already provided your biometrics in the past, you can check if they are still valid here.

eTA Fee ($7 CAD)

If you are a Mexican Citizen the below details do not apply. Please read our article on eTA for Mexican Citizens.

An eTA is an entry requirement for all visa-exempt, non-US foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air.

If you do not currently have a valid eTA, you will need to apply for an eTA with the Government of Canada. It's a simple online process and costs $7 CAD. It is valid for five years, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

Qualification Course Coverage

There will be an administrative fee charged to Direct Placements who are registered in a Qualification Course. Please note that if your camp has registered you for a Qualification Course, we do not offer accommodations or coordinate travel to/from the course for Direct Placements. Please connect with your camp directly to help you facilitate this.
